I love this Simon Sinek quote. What a fantastic outlook for the state of our world today. I don’t know about anyone else, but I often struggle with negative feelings about politics, world health, and a variety of other stressful things we all experience, which often leads to a feeling of despair and hopelessness. We can choose to wallow in that negativity and let it consume us, but as the quote says, we can only move forward with an optimistic and hopeful mindset. I’ll be the first to admit, I used to openly mock the “hope and change” mentality as I felt it was simply rooted in an unrealistic, unachievable, utopian thought process. But as I’ve grown older, had more life experiences, and built deeper relationships with people of opposing views, I’ve come to see the value of hope. Without an optimistic, hopeful outlook to drive us forward, we either stagnate and become apathetic or let anger and resentment spread hatefulness. Nothing in the history of the world has ever been accomplished by an apathetic or hateful attitude. We should all strive to better ourselves, better our families, better our friends, better our businesses, better our country, and better the human race. When we stop feeling like everything is an effort in futility and realize we all have a voice and hand in moving things forward, big things happen. I promise.
